Important Traffic Update: First Street Closure Beginning April 28
Dear Franklin Middle School Families,
We would like to inform you of an important change that will impact drop-off and pick-up routines for the remainder of the school year. Beginning Monday, April 28, 2025, First Street will be closed and inaccessible. This closure will remain in effect through the end of the school year.
We understand this may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and efficient traffic flow. To assist with the change, five alternate exit routes are available from the FMS campus (see the attached map). Please review your options in advance and plan accordingly.
- Pick up in the south parking lot and exit North or South on Spruce
- Pick up on Spruce & turn left on Hughes St. E.
- Pick up on Spruce & turn left on Gulf St. E.
- Turn onto Spruce and turn right onto Gulf St. E. to Pine Ave. and cross 1st St.
- Go straight on Spruce & cross 1st St. to 3rd St.
A few important reminders as we adjust to this new traffic pattern:
- Plan extra time when moving in and out of FMS, especially during peak drop-off and pick-up hours.
- School buses may run late. Please be patient and allow them to move through traffic efficiently.
- Be extra cautious when driving near campus, as we expect an increased number of students walking and biking.
- Do not park, drop off, or pick up students on the west side of Spruce Avenue—this area must remain clear for safety.
- Above all, we ask for your patience as we work together to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
